The Society of Wine Educators was founded in 1974 in the United States of America. It is a non-profit educational organization (501c3) whose mission is to advance wine education through professional development and certification.
The Society of Wine Educators becomes a leading international organization of professionals dedicated specifically to wine education. It has an extensive network with over 2,200 members in 20 countries representing every facet of the wine industry.
The Society's goal is to foster and promote the professional education and development of the individual in particular, and the professional education and development of the wine industry as a whole.
As in many professions, a successful career is marked by an appropriate education verified by a credible certification program that is recognized both by the public and one's peers.
The Society of Wine Educators offers several certification programs
These self-study educational programs are internationally recognized and highly regarded certifications in the wine and spirits industry. Through its certification examinations, the Society of Wine Educators validates wine and spirits knowledge. These are certifications and not certificate programs. Accordingly, successful candidates are entitled to add the appropriate post-nominal to their professional signature.
The Hong Kong Wine Academy is proud to offer tutorial program in Hong Kong. These programs are hosted by the first Certified Wine Educator in greater China. Please note that these programs and examinations are offered in English only. Please refer to our latest program and application details.
