Course Introduction
WSET's Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.
This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.What you'll learn
- How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties
- The style and quality of wines made from 22 regionally important grape varieties
- The style and quality of wines produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of Sparkling Wines & Fortified Wines.
- Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing

Who are your instructors?
All our WSET® course lecturers had undergone the WSET® Educator Training Program, and only Certified WSET® Educators will teach courses above the Foundation level. Guided tasting courses are led by tutors with specific experience.
What is the class size?
Our maximum class size:
Level 1:22 人

Absent Arrangement
We will try to arrange you to fit into another class of the same course to make up for the absent class. However according to the class size, wine tasting samples may be allocated at last priority. For better preparation, please let us know your absent arrangement as soon as possible.

Recently, there are increasing number of consumers and enthusiasts attending the WSET® courses with the desire to enhance their knowledge. Hong Kong Wine Academy is a WSET® Approved Program Provider and is authorized to offer WSET® courses.
Are there any prerequisites for taking the WSET® courses?
No. However, we recommend those who intend to take the Intermediate Certificate course should have basic knowledge in wine and spirit, and those who intend to take the Advanced Certificate course should have good knowledge in wine and spirit.
Can the courses be taught in other languages?
Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
